About Chuckanut Bay Gallery

chuckanut bay gallery bellingham, waChuckanut Bay Gallery & Sculpture Garden is ideally located on the iconic Chuckanut Drive (Highway 11), a favorite and historic entry into Bellingham, Washington. Built in 1896, this was the first land route to the Bellingham Bay communities and since then people have been traveling to and from Bellingham on this scenic route.

In the beginning…

In the 1930’s, the current gallery buildings were constructed, providing both a garage and service station for motorists. Many years later the buildings were converted into a general store, famous for delicious, giant ice cream cones.

Chuckanut Gallery opens…

In 1986, the Gallery was first opened by Don and Carol Salisbury who had the vision to combine the work of local, hand-crafting artisans in a relaxed, peaceful setting. The Gallery has since grown to feature the work of over 400 artists, offering a destination shopping experience where visitors can enjoy infused and etched glassworks, beautifully glazed pottery, fine handmade jewelry, wooden crafts, and art prints. In addition, the beautiful gardens, overflowing with sculpture, water features, lanterns, hand-tuned wind chimes, and bird houses and feeders, make the perfect location to relax on the deck, watch the many songbirds and hummingbirds fluttering around the feeders while enjoying an espresso or tea amidst the creative energy of hundreds of contributing artists.

New in 2015…

In 2015, the Gallery changed hands for the first time and the new owners, Nancy and Christopher Haley, are keeping true to the original theme of offering hundreds of American artisan works while adding new and exciting pieces of original artwork, one-of-a-kind gift items, and stunning garden art. This website offers but a small fraction of the variety of items we have at the gallery. Come in to say hello and have a look around!
