Songbird Sculptures

Jim Mullan is a self-taught artist who grew up in Southern California with an enthusiasm for nature & history.  His fascination with birds & antique found objects inspired this collection.  The large ravens were originally used for hunting decoys in the 30's & 40's and the smaller song birds were carved in the 1950's.  Each bird is hgand painted & then embellished with Jim Mullan is a self-taught artist who grew up in Southern California with an enthusiasm for nature & history.  His fascination with birds & antique found objects inspired this collection.  The large ravens were originally used for hunting decoys in the 30's & 40's and the smaller song birds were carved in the 1950's.  Each bird is hand painted & then embellished with vintage materials. The unusual relics such as croquet balls, binoculars & old toys give each inpsiring bird their own personality.  These sculptures give life to the once forgotten pieces of yesterday.
